Slugs can be the worst enemy for growers utilizing no-till practices and cover crops in certain regions of the U.S. as the creatures thrive in potentially cool, wet conditions as cash crops emerge.
Cover Crop Coach Steve Groff will share some insights he’s gleaned from the industry on taking a systems approach to fighting slug populations, which can include more traditional tools such as Deadline to making adjustments to planting timing and methods, to tweaking planter setups to making decisions about the necessity of seed treatments. Groff will even share an interesting planter attachment he saw in France that help growers fight slugs on the go while planting.
