I am coming to visit your farm this summer. Well, okay not ALL of your farms. But, once again I will be heading east in June to visit some family in Baltimore and Virginia and while I am there, I plan to make a handful of farmer visits across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Virginia. This will be my third year in a row taking this approach.
Last year, about 2 months before my trip, I posted a blog asking for suggestions or volunteers of different farmers who might be worth paying a visit to. I was delighted to receive lots of feedback and one of the replies eventually ended up leading to me visiting Cicl, County, Md., no-tiller Bryan Racine. The visit was a lot of fun and I was able to get a podcast and some other good content out of it as well.
All of this is to say that I am once again starting to map out my trip and looking for anyone who might want me to pay a visit to their farm. Or perhaps you have a neighbor or a family member in that neck of the woods and you believe they are doing something interesting on their ground that might warrant a quick visit from yours truly. My final disclaimer would be that I know all farmers are gong to be very busy in early June, but rest assured, these visits don't typically take a ton of time or planning on your part. In most cases, I'll stop by for 2-3 hours and chat about your farm operation, record a short interview, take a quick farm tour and get some photos and videos and be on my way.
