Farmers Set New Record for Average Acreage Planted Green, Battled Dry Fall Conditions

Last year’s drought brought some setbacks for cover crop users. Every year we ask survey participants to rank their top three challenges, and the lack of moisture was evident in their responses. 

For starters, emergence in dry weather ranked second among all growers as a significant challenge. Nearly 45% said it was one of their top three — an 11.7 percentage point increase from 2024 — and 22% listed it as their No. 1 issue…
