Discussing the 2019 event, Strip-Till Farmer managing editor Jack Zemlicka remarked, “Today more than ever, growers need practical information and farm-proven strategies to help them achieve greater success and a higher return on their in-field efforts and investments. With that in mind, we developed this year's program to deliver specific, insightful and actionable learning, while providing attendees with ample face-to-face networking opportunities during which they can share and compare ideas directly with their peers."

Headlining presenters for the 2019 conference include Lake Mills, Iowa, farmer Ben Pederson, who will challenge attendees to think critically about the scope of their strip-system and look for innovative pathways for increased profitability during his session, “Sustainability as a Commodity: Getting to the Root of Why We Strip-Till." During the Premier Lecture Series general session, “It’s Alive! Connecting the Conservation Dots to Keep Your Strip-Tilled Soils Thriving,” former USDA soil scientist and founder of Ohio-based Wetland and Soil Consulting Services (WSCS), Frank Gibbs, will discuss how to create and maintain a collaborative biological environment within strip-tilled soils to improve plant health. During a keynote dinner presentation by Dr. Ray Asebedo, “Sensing an Evolution in How Data Drives Strip-Till Solutions,” the former assistant professor of precision agriculture at Kansas State University will dissect how each piece of the sensing technology puzzle — from soil sensors to drones — can fit together for a more profitable overall picture.

And during an interactive post-conference soil health workshop led by Frank Gibbs, "Seeing is Believing: A Visual Validation of Soil Health," attendees will join Gibbs in the field for a unique and eye-opening demonstration of soil health. Drawing on his more than 40 years of experience as an agronomist and soil health expert, Gibbs will conduct his famous “smoking tile” experiment which provides a visual analysis of soil structure, quality and earthworm activity.
